Why hire me?

Writing is my passion and lifelong journey. I'm a published, award-winning author with a Master's in Fine Arts in Creative Writing & Instruction. I’ve been writing professionally and instructing other authors (from big conferences to one-on-one) for a decade.

I strive to stay current on the latest literary theories, techniques, and trends. My ongoing work with various writing communities across the Pacific Northwest puts me in touch with authors and book industry professionals, giving me an insider perspective on the inner workings of literary agencies, small and large publishers, Amazon, Ingram, and other entities in the book business. I've been working professionally in editing, publishing, and social media marketing since 2013, and have been a board member at a major writing organization since 2010.

At the end of the day: I'm a highly motivated, personable, and professional working writer who loves to help people of any skill set become a better writer.

Coaching

Do you want to feel like you're not alone on your writing journey? Do you suffer from writer’s block or have trouble finishing projects? Want to get better at the craft of writing? Need a publishing cheerleader? If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, writing coaching might be the answer.

Editing

Revision is about uncovering the gold nuggets from your first draft, sifting them out of the muck, and polishing them up. As a developmental editor, I'm here to offer educated responses, ask questions, and help you pinpoint flaws in your narrative. I will offer suggestions based on my knowledge of the craft of writing as well as the market.

Testimonials

Nicole’s coaching has been immensely helpful to my novel. Her focus on the technical aspects of each chapter as I write them has kept me on track and is giving me clarity for the re-write. If my novel is a success, it will be in large part thanks to Nicole.
— Bret Wirta, author of 'Winnetou Returns'

Nicole Persun has been an editing goldmine for me. Her editorial comments at all stages were insightful and professional, consistently improving my work. I have two novels published that she has worked on and can give her an unqualified recommendation. An added bonus is that she delivers constructive criticism in an encouraging manner—much appreciated.
— Nancy Leonard, author of 'Headwaters' and 'Becomes a Horseman'

Nicole’s astute developmental edit of my manuscript, Kids of Sockland, absolutely blew me away. It was deep, scintillating, and lucid. Using Track Changes, she identified an issue, explained if it was a craft, style, or clarity problem—in straightforward terms, and then provided suggestions on how to improve the sentence, paragraph, scene, etc. She also asked questions and highlighted areas of excellence. Not only did her thorough edit improve my work immensely, but I also gained additional insight on the different elements in the craft of fiction. Nicole is personable, responsive, adroit, and a real gem to work with on a project. I can’t recommend her enough!
— Craig Anderson, author of 'Kids of Sockland'

Nicole was perceptive and sensitive to the manuscript and to me as an author. I would trust Nicole with my work again and again!
— Sharon Anderson, author of the award-winning book 'Curse of the Seven 70s'
