Nicole will be at the Pacific Northwest Writers' Association 2017 Conference, teaching a class for the fantasy track.

"When it comes to writing fantasy, world building is a common point of discussion. How can we write unique, vivid, and magical worlds with authenticity? How can we avoid the dreaded info dump while maintaining believability? Often forgotten in these discussions are our main characters—which is a shame, since it is through our characters that the reader experiences our fantastic worlds. In this class, we’ll discuss how character development can improve our world building. We’ll go over the elements of solid world building through the lens of our characters, coming away with the tools needed to write compelling characters and the striking worlds in which they live."
